Getting Started
Finding the right therapist can feel like sitting on a crowded train that’s passed by every stop.
It can be exhausting waiting to find someone available, let alone aligned with your own vision for change.
Hopefully this will be the last stop on your trainride.
Let’s chat! An initial conversation takes 15 minutes.
On my end I promise complete non-judgement, open ears, and an honest articulation of my ability to competently help you.
If your need is outside the scope of my practice I just might know another clinician to refer you to!

My Approach
My approach to therapy boils down to a few simple ingredients: partnership, understanding, resilience, drive, replication, and autonomy.
From the moment you sit down my first objective is to meet you precisely where you are. No judgment, no moralizing, no generic truisms, just two people prepared to dive into present challenges and work together to make life easier and more fulfilling, built entirely on your vision for your life.
The next step we’ll take is to dive deeper to understand the present and past shape of your life. What experiences have stacked across time and amalgamated to generate present reactions to the physical and social context of your life? What is your relationship to your mind? What stories, cultural narratives, and identity modifiers have impacted the way you see yourself and your needs? When do you feel scared, sad, overwhelmed, diminished, or… empowered, joyful, and present? Who are you now and who were you in the past?
Hopping over to the next stepping stone will take us to resilience. Life is hard. Sometimes life feels unbearably difficult. Let’s change that. Together we’ll personalize and integrate a suite of clinical tools dealing with attentional awareness, mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, de-fusion, self-soothing (and more). With practice, intense sensations and intolerable distress will transmute into something that feels easier to hold, less painful, and more capable of weathering.
With some skills under your belt we can shift gears in pursuit of self-authorship. What drives you? Who do you want to be? How do you want to feel (beyond Not depressed, Not stressed, and Not anxious)? Who do you want to be a part of your life? What quality and form do you want relationships to transform into? What activities, roles, responsibilities, and structures do you want your life to include?
Put simply: let’s understand what you want and chart a course toward those goals.
Replication is critical here. The aim is not to set up a pleasant weekend where Monday recycles last week's challenges without an enduring change. Our target is to have empathy for your emotional reality and build flexible systems that bend with the inevitable variability of your world. The bullseye we're aiming for is small, accessible, change that you can reach out and grab that also FEELS incentivizing in the moment. That’s the magic spell: a personalized system that builds momentum, stacking generatively across time, and allowing for impactful changes made up of dozens of small wins.
My ultimate goal is to wish you a bittersweet farewell. If I’ve done my job, we’ll be waving goodbye sooner than later. I want to hand you the keys to your own life, designed to your own specifications, under your own full autonomy.
By the end of our time together my hope is that you’ll have a strong voice in your own mind that makes my services obsolete. You’ll know what triggers emotional reactions and how to regulate through distress. You’ll have a more defined sense of self that’s aligned with a workable path toward a better future. You’ll have more secure, connected relationships with mutuality and an ability to negotiate through interpersonal conflicts.
Essentially: you’ll already know what is happening, what to do, and where to go next. At that point, my input won’t be necessary. ✌︎

With that out of the way, I’d describe myself as a fairly balanced person. I like to infuse moments with humor when appropriate, but take my work very seriously. I’ve known I wanted to be a therapist since I was sixteen years old. The reasoning hasn’t changed much. I was disappointed with the quality of care I experienced and wanted to change that. My experience with therapists ranged from stuffy, emotionally removed psychoanalysts to social workers who repeated soft platitudes with genuine empathy, but without offering a clear path out of my own challenges wrestling with anxiety, anger, and emotional overwhelm. As a person I strive to be candid, open, discerning, and earnest. I’m a friendly face with a lot of empathy, but I don’t shy away from disagreement and welcome well-meaning debate when it’s aimed at personal growth.
I like long walks on the beach, cooking new recipes, quiet country roads, fishing, antique book stores, and spontaneous adventures ⛰️
